Gaining Competence
Competence comes with awareness and awareness comes with a willingness to be open and honest with yourself. This is easier said than done but well worth the leap when you are ready to take the plunge into authoring your own life!
Once you acknowledge to yourself that there are areas of your life that you are dissatisfied with, even if you don’t know what to do to fix them, you have started your journey to competence… and yes.. it starts with admitting that you may not be too competent right now. That’s the exciting part though.. once you admit the truth to yourself, you can begin on the journey to gaining competence through growth, learning, loving and being open to the world around you.
As you begin to gain more knowledge you may begin to feel overwhelmed by all there is to learn and know, you become more conscious of your incompetence at this time and that can be a little mind-boggling. Don’t fret though… it’s part of the process.. stay committed and keep on pressing through. You deserve it! Have a little faith in yourself and your ability to learn and grow and you will persevere. You will being to understand just where the problems are in your life and you will begin to learn what you can do to over come them.
With time your competence will grow. You will be conscious of what you know and how to correct the problems you are facing. This is a little daunting because it takes focused mental effort… just like when you first start riding a bicycle. You need to focus on every move to make sure you stay the course. It’s ok though because you know you are on the right track and if you hit a road bump, you know how to get up and back on track in the direction you want to go.
Soon enough, you will be riding with no hands!! You will have attained a level of competence where your new skills come effortlessly. You have just achieved competence in what ever endeavor you selected and are on your way to living the life you want to create.
Remember, it’s all about choices. You have the ability to be the author of your own life, when you are ready to make the choices to pick up the pen you can then choose to have competence in any area. All it takes is a commitment to yourself and the tenacity to stay the course!
You are worth it!
